Presented before the reader is a tremendously beneficial ebook taken from a lecture delivered by the noble Shaykh Ḥasan ibn Manṣūr Daghrīrī to Muwahhideen Publications on Sunday 7th August, 2016. The Shaykh expounds, concisely but accurately, on the disease of seeking leadership and fame. He mentions some profound statements of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the salaf in warning against this ferocious disease that consumes the practitioner. The chapters covered are:
1. Having Sincerity
2. The Striving of The Salaf al-Ṣāliḥ For Sincerity.
3. Deeds Done For The Sake of Allāh Will Remain.
4. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) Forbade His Ummah From Seeking After Leadership.
5. Narrations of The Salaf on Love of Leadership and Fame.
6. The One Who Asks For Leadership Will Be Entrusted To It Whereas The One Who Is Given Leadership Will Be Aided In It By Allāh.
7. Some Signs That A Person Is Afflicted With The Disease of Loving Leadership and Fame.
Some of the Salaf used to say: “Beware of loving leadership because some people will love it like they love gold and silver and none but those who have insight in their religion will be successful, so work with pure intentions.” Ayyūb al-Sakhtiyānī (رحمه الله) said: “Never is a person truthful and (at the same time) loves being famous.” Bishr b. Ḥārith (رحمه الله) said: “No one who fears Allāh loves fame.” Yaḥyā b. Mu’ādh (رحمه الله) said: “Never will a person be successful if the scent of loving fame is even smelled from him.” Shaddād b. Aws (رحمه الله) said: “O remainders of the Arab, the thing that I fear most for you is this hidden desire.” Abū Ayyūb al-Sijistānī (رحمه الله) was asked what is meant by this hidden desire and he said: “It is the desire for leadership (and/or fame).” Ibn Taymiyyah (رحمه الله) said that many times this is hidden from a person and he does not even know that he is seeking after this. So it is a very subtle feeling. Fuḍayl b. ‘Iyāḍ (رحمه الله) said: “Never does a person love leadership except that he is jealous and transgresses against other people, and he cannot stand others being mentioned with good.”

Muwahhideen Publications has organized a very important LIVE Tele-Lecture with the Noble Shaykh 'Abdullāh Ibn Ṣulfīq aẓ-Ẓafirī, entitled, "The Importance of Being Qualified Before Putting Oneself Forward." This lecture will address an extremely pertinent issue in our time where so many beginner students of knowledge who have read a few books and called a few mashāyikh on the phone have now put themselves forward in affairs of the da'wah, ahead of many of the elders and seniors who have decades of experience. This phenomenon has caused immense harm in the da'wah and has spread fitnah across the Salafī communities simply because these individuals do not know their correct place, wa Allahul Musta'an. Tune in LIVE for insight into this extremely important clarification
This lecture event will be translated LIVE into English In shā`Allāh.
