Ibn Abbaas (radiyallaahu-anhu) said, “Do not sit with the people of desires; for indeed it causes sickness of the heart.” [Reported by: Imaam Al-Aajuree in Ash-Sharee-ah: 1/453].
Sallaam Ibn Abee Mutee (rahimahullaah) said, “A man from the people of desires said to Ayyoub As-Sakhtiyaanee:”O Abaa-Bakr, I want to ask you about some statement”, so Ayyoub walked away and started gesturing with his finger, saying: “Not even half a statement.” [Reported by Imaam Al-Aajuree in Ash-Sharee-ah 1/440]
Hishaam said: al-Hasan [al-Basree] and Muhammad bin Seereen used to both say: “Do not sit with the people of ahwaa' and do not argue with them and do not listen from them." [Al-Ibaanah of Ibn Battah #395]
Muslim bin Yasaar said: "Do not open up your hearing to a person of bid'ah, so he pours inside it what you don't have the ability to take out of your heart." [Al-Ibaanah #436]

These are but a few sayings of our Salaf regarding their stance towards those who oppose the Sunnah. Shaykh Badr al-‘Anazy (hafidhahullah) will delve more into this crucial affair and by the Permission of Allah, this lecture will serve as a reminder and clarification for us regarding the position of Ahl Sunnah regarding the people of innovation and desires.
We ask Allah to guide us to all that He loves and is pleased with and that He protects us from falling into innovation in the Deen.
