He said that the correct fasting that is free from any acts of sin and evil doings and done in accordance to the Sunnah of Muhammad (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) in which the slave rushes to Allah (Subhaanahu wa ta’alaa), will gain the best reward which is taqwa of Allah. Continuing, he stated that this act of fasting will remove the hardships from your chest; it will rid your chest of the envy, hatred and other evil feelings.
He addressed us by saying, “O Muslims it is upon you to strive hard and not let the month of Ramadhaan pass without you doing what it takes for Allah to expiate all of your sins and raise you in degrees.”
The Shaykh went on to say that fasting is not only beneficial in this life but it is also beneficial in the grave and at the time when you meet your Lord. So glad tidings to the one who meets his Lord with his record full of fasting!
The lecture continued with the Shaykh mentioning and commenting on some of the many ahaadeeth related to fasting in terms of it expiating sins and the immense rewards such as being protected from the severity of the Day of Judgment, the promise of Jannah and gaining the Pleasure of Ar-Rahmaan.
