Pivotal Quote
❝…Good and harm, anything that comes to you from good or repelling harm, revolves and returns back to Allāh Subḥānahu wa-taʿālā. Good and harm are in the hands of Allāh. And that is from our Tawḥīd and our belief in Tawḥīd. So there is not then or we do not hold that there are things that will cause you harm or things that are cursed. It may well be that there are certain things that have been afflicted with the evil eye, that you may have a possession that is afflicted with the evil eye, and thus, the evil eye afflicting that thing causes harm to that thing…❞

The questioner asked: Regarding the issue of bad omens, it’s a very common thing that somebody will have, for example – a car, a vehicle, and they might realize that they’re getting a lot of accidents with the car or something. Every time they jump in the car, something happens. They say, “Boy, that car blight!” That’s what they say here in Trinidad – “That car blight.” I know there’s a narration mentioning that bad omens are in three. Could you elaborate on that? Is that a statement of Shirk or is it something from Islām that is permissible, from the ‘Aqīdah of the Muslim?
