[١] اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الْقَدِيرِ الْبَارِي … ثُمَّ صَلاَتُهُ عَلَى الْمُخْتَارِ
[1] All praise is due to Allāh, The Eternal, The Creator, followed by His Prayers upon the chosen one.
[٢] وَبَعْدُ هَاكَ سِيرَةَ الرَّسُولِ … مَنْظُومَةً مُوجَزَةَ الْفُصُولِ
[2] To proceed: Take this biography of the Messenger as a poem comprised of concise segments.
[٣] وْلِدُهُ فِي عَاشِرِ الْفَضِيلِ … رَبِيعٍ الأَوَّلِ عَامَ الْفِيلِ
[3] His birth was on the tenth of the famous month Rabīʿ al-Awwal, during the Year of the Elephant.
[٤] كِنَّمَا الْمَشْهُورُ ثَانِي عَشْرِهِ … فِي يَوْمِ الاِثْنَيْنِ طُلُوعَ فَجْرِهِ
[4] However, the popular opinion is that it was on the twelfth, which was a Monday at the break of dawn,
[٥] وَوَافَقَ الْعِشْرِينَ مِنْ نَيْسَانَا … وَقْبَلَه حَيْنُ أَبِيهِ حَانَا

Lines of The Poem Covered:
[٦] وَبَعْدَ عَامَيْنِ غَدَا فَطِيمَا … جَاءَتْ بِهِ مُرضِعُهُ سَلِيمَا
[6] He was weaned two-years later and safely brought back by his wet-nurse,
[٧] حَلِيمَةٌ لِأُمِّهِ وَعَادَتْ … بِهِ لِأَهْلِهَا كَمَا أَرَادَتْ
[7] Ḥalīmah, to his mother. However, she returned with him to her family just as she had wanted.
[٨] فَبَعْدَ شَهْرَيْنِ انْشِقَاقُ بَطْنِهِْ … وَقِيلَ بَعْدَ أَرْبَعٍ مِنْ سِنِّهِْ
[8] Two months later his chest was spilt open, although some say this happened when he was four.
[٩] وَبَعْدَ سِتٍٍّ مَعَ شَهْرٍ جَاءِ … وَفَاةُ أُمِّهِ عَلَى الْأَبْوَاءِ
[9] At six years old and one month, while returning, his mother passed away at al-Abwāʾ.
[١٠] وَجَدُّه لِلْأَبِ عَبْدُ الْمُطَّلِبْ … بَعْدَ ثَمَانٍ مَاتَ مِنْ غَيْرِ كَذِبْ
[10] Then his paternal grandfather, ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib, passed away while he was eight, and this is no tale.
[١١] ثُمَّ أَبُو طَالِبٍ الْعَمُّ كَفَلْ … خِدْمَتَهُ ثُمَّ إِلَى الشَّامِ رَحَلْ
[11] Then his paternal uncle, Abū Ṭālib, assumed taking care of him, and then he travelled to al-Shām.
[١٢] وَذَاكَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِ الثَّانِي عَشَرْ … وَكَانَ مِنْ أَمْرِ (بَحِيـرَا) مَا اشْتَهَرْ
[12] This was while he was twelve years old and it was when the famous incident with Baḥīrā occurred.
[١٣] وَسَارَ نَحْوَ الشَّامِ أَشْرَفُ الْوَرَى … فِي عَامِ خَمْسَةٍ وَعِشْرِينَ اذْكُرَا
[13] The noblest of mankind travelled to al-Shām at the age of twenty-five – remember this –
[١٤] لِأُمِّنَا خَدِيـجَةٍ مُتَّجِرَا … وَعَادَ فِيهِ رَابِحًا مُسْتَبْشِرَا
[14] As a merchant for our mother, Khadījah, returning the same year after having made a profit, being delighted.
[١٥] فَكَانَ فِيهِ عَقْدُهُ عَلَيْهَا … وَبَعْدَهُ إِفْضَاؤُهُ إِلَيْهَا
[15] He married her during the same year, and then consummated his marriage with her.
[١٦] وَوِلْدُهُ مِنْهَا خَلاَ إِبْرَاهِيمْ … فَالْأَوَّلُ الْقَاسِمُ حَازَ التَّكْرِيـمْ
[16] All of his children were from her except for Ibrāhīm, and the first to earn this distinction was al-Qāsim.
[١٧] وَزَيْنَبٌ رُقَيَّةٌ وَفَاطِمَةْ … وَأُمُّ كُلْثُومٍ لَهُنَّ خَاتِمَةْ
[17] Followed by Zaynab, Ruqayyah, Fāṭimah, and Umm Kulthūm, who was the last of the girls;
[١٨] وَالطَّاهِرُ الطَّيِّبُ عَبْدُ اللهِ … وَقِيلَ كُلُّ اسْمٍ لِفَرْدٍ زَاهِي
[18] and al-Ṭāhir, al-Ṭayyib, ʿAbd Allāh; but was said that each name belonged to a separate radiant child.
[١٩] وَالْكُلُّ فِي حَيَاتِهِ ذَاقُوا الْحِمَامْ … وَبَعْدَهُ فَاطِمَةٌ بِنِصْفِ عَامْ
